Can risperdone or tegretol start causing nausea and dizziness a year after starting them?

Published on: January 21, 2012

I have been on them each for at least a year, no side effects. I’ve been having dizziness, diarrhea and mild nausea for six weeks, and that started when my lithium got elevated, but the psychiatrist decreased it once again eight days ago, and I have very same diarrhea, worse nausea though the dizziness is mostly gone, so I guess it wasn’t the lithium. So could it be the risperdone or tegretol beginning out of the blue to cause side effects?

I extremely doubt it. I’ve by no means heard of a medication suddenly providing you new side effects soon after you’ve been on it with no side effects for a year. It could be one thing to do with the lithium boost (despite the fact that doubtful since the dosage was brought down once again), or it could be some thing else.

I am no medical doctor, though, so I think you really should ask one.
