Reviewing the Head Liquidmetal Radical
A now classic racquet, the Head Liquidmetal Radical comes in two sizes for the competitive player. First, we will take a look at a popular racquet used on the pro circuit, the Head Liquidmetal Radical Midplus.
With lighter racquets emerging each year, the Radical is somewhat heavy, but we were okay with this when testing it out. This gave a sense of stability to the racquet, giving a great element of control to our strokes. The spin was exceptional too.
Serving with the Head Liquidmetal Radical was fairly comfortable as well. The Midplus doesn’t have the most power out of all the similar racquets out there, but rather gives you solid control and a decent amount of spin. A nice sweet spot on the racquet allowed us to attack on the return of serve without a lot of fear of the ball taking off on us.
Perhaps our favorite element of the racquet was the effect that it had on our ground strokes, as the control and spin the mid-plus allowed us to put on the ball was really one of the best we’ve ever experienced when testing a racquet. No wonder it’s such a popular seller!
As a bonus, anyone looking for some extra comfort will be happy to know that the over-sized model gives an additional nine square inches. The larger sweet spot makes it all the more easy to hit steady shots.
While a larger head usually results in less control, we hardly noticed the difference in that department. The Radical had great control for an over-sized racquet.
Serving is a huge plus with the Head Liquidmetal Racquet. While it seemed difficult as far as the slice and topspin serves were concerned, a great flat serve resulted from the racquet’s generous sweet spot.
We found that spin was an issue on the ground as well. It was certainly easier to apply topspin to our ground strokes with the mid-plus than it was with the over-sized, but all in all, we were happy with both models.
Both Head Liquidmetal Radicals tested really well for us. We preferred the Midplus because it fit our game better, but the over-sized will find plenty of fans as well. Either Head Liquidmetal Radical will help in a player’s advancement in their game.
